Welcome to the world of Sherlockian scholarship that so many have enjoyed since 1946.  With both serious scholarship and articles that "play the game," the Journal is the essential publication for anyone interested in Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and a world where it is always 1895.

Your subscription includes:
• Four regular quarterly issues
• The Baker Street Journal Christmas Annual

Subscriptions are for one calendar year, beginning with the Spring issue and running through the Winter issue.  The Christmas Annual is published at the end of your year's subscription.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What's in a typical issue?
A: An issue of the BSJ typically includes articles on a variety of subjects, a Sherlockian cartoon, Sherlockian news, and brief reviews of various publications.  You can see the current issue's
table of contents and the BSJ editor's message on our website.  You can also read some of our past featured articles.

Q: When will I get my first issue?
A: Issues are published quarterly (Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter).  If you are a new subscriber and order a 2013 subscription, your first issue will arrive in Spring 2013.

Q: Can I subscribe in the middle of the year?
A: You can subscribe at any time.  If you order a subscription for the current year after Spring, we'll immediately send you all the issues from earlier in the year to catch you up.  That way you'll get something right away and will have a complete set of issues for the calendar year.

Q: When does the next issue come out?
Q: How do I know if an issue has been published?
A: The Journal is published on a quarterly basis, with Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter issues. Each is released in the appropriate season (i.e. Spring between March 21 and June 20).  Our website's
Current Contents page lists the most recent issue and its contents.

Q: What happened to the Christmas Annual?
A: Yes, Virginia, there is still a BSJ Christmas Annual.  All BSJ subscriptions include The Baker Street Journal Christmas Annual, an extra year-end issue devoted to a single topic.  The Annual is always a fun and intense read, thoroughly researched and professionally written by various Sherlockian scholars.  Some
Annuals from prior years are also available separately.

Q: When does the Christmas Annual come out?
A: The Christmas Annual comes out around December at the END of your subscription year.  Due to holiday mail it may arrive in January.

Q: When will my subscription expire?
A: Every subscription runs for a single year, January to December.  Your subscription will expire at the end of the calendar year after you receive your Winter issue and the Christmas Annual.

Q: What happened to automatic renewals using PayPal?
A: Because of many problems with PayPal auto-renewals, we had to discontinue the automatic option.  You can still order a renewal online using a credit card or PayPal, but you will need to enter your order each year.  See the
Renewals FAQ for more details.

Q: How do I renew a subscription?
A: We use the same process for ordering a renewal or new subscription.  Just click the appropriate "Add to Cart" button for 2013 above, or order by postal mail.

Q: How do I order by postal mail instead of online?
A: Click the link to the PDF form above, print it, and send it along with your check to the address listed on that form.

Q: Why did I get a renewal notice with my BSJ?
A: We include the notice for everyone as a reminder to renew.  If you have already renewed for the next year you can ignore it.

Q: What happened to Expedited Delivery?
A: The BSJ is only available via standard delivery.

Q: Who do I contact if I still have questions or comments?
A:
Send us an email and we'll try to help.
